Why-Pox Lab

Back to the CDC

Welcome to the CDC Why-Pox Lab.

This lab was established in response to the Why-Pox threat of 2002. When cases of new diseases started showing up in our town late in August, 2007, the CDC renovated the lab so that citizens like you could be a part of the CDC Analysis Team.

To contribute to the investigation of the new diseases plaguing our town, you will want to learn more about how infectious disease spreads by visiting the Infection Simulator. This simulator will help you to think about how the disease spreads, how many people it will eventually infect, and whether we will be able to contain this disease.

The CDC has also created the Epidemic Simulator, a tool for analyzing the dynamics of epidemics. Using this tool, you will be able to help predict how long a particular epidemic will last and how many people it will effect. You may even be able to figure out how infectious this disease is. We don't have enough data to do predictions yet, but you can prepare yourself now by spending some time understanding the Epidemic Simulator now.
